Day 51: HIIT/Abs

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Blah.  Felt like shit waking up this morning, body was tense from the moment I woke up, all kinds of residual negative energy from my dreams, and just blah.  Feelings continued through my workout, don’t know if its something in the air, but my allergies ro aesthma or whatever the fuck I have was really bad today, my bronchial tubes hurt by the end of my sprints and I keep coughing right now.

So not the finest day of sprints and ab work, but better to have done than not done at all.

Day 50: PUSH

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Push it out.  Push it alllll out.
Chest/Triceps/Biceps today.  Great workout, felt strong, pushed myself hard.  My body is changing, not drastically, but noticeably.  Feelin’ strong.  Feelin’ like I could, and am, going to do this for the rest of my life.

Day 48: Cardio Weights

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Okay, so after yesterday’s very full day of snowboarding, I was totally exhausted.  yesterday ended up being my off day for my diet, the temptation of beer after a day on the mountain was just to great.  So I’m swapping friday for sunday, and will be on diet tomorrow and will also do my missed HIIT/Abs session then.

Cardio Weights were great this morning, it was a challenge but I showed up quite nicely.  While I am tired and do feel a bit bodyrocked, I’m stoked that I haven’t had to slow down at all this week, still been training, snowboarded twice, working, etc..etc…and the ability to do that IS fitness for me.

5 weeks left after tomorrow!  Where is  this year going?

Day 47: SNOW

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Well I just got up at 5:30, dug my car out of the snow, and made it up to the North Boulder Rec center to find that it wasn’t open!  They’re having a late open today at 9am because of the snowstorm that hit yesterday.  GYM FAIL.

I won’t be able to go at 9 because I’ll hopefully be on my way to Copper Mountain already for another day of snowboarding.

So, tomorrow (Saturday) I’m going to have to double-up as R. Kelly would say, and will do cardio weights, HIIT sprints, AND abs.  Scared just saying it.

Day 46: PULL

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

My body is rocked right now.  Training earlier this week, full day of boarding tuesday, LEGS yesterday, and training again this morning….I’m pretty achey.

Nonetheless, week’s like this are what training is all about for me.  Don’t have to hold back in Life cuz I can trust my body will keep up.  In fact, we’re having an insaine blizzard right now so I’m going BACK to copper moutnain tomorrow.  HELL YEAH.

Shoulders felt good this morning, I particularly pwned reverse flies, and have a feeling my delts are going to be very, very sore.

The good news, just whipped out the old body tape and I’ve lost about half an inch around the waste and am at 22 on my body fat pincher, which is a decrease.  Keep on keepin on.

Day 45: LEGS

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Yeah, so legs were NOT so fun this morning.  My body was already pretty sore, worn out, and tired from a full day of snowboarding yesterday.  But a little fun on the mountain is no excuse to not keep training, so there I was this morning, pushing through lunges, leg presses, hamstring curls, sumo squats, and calf raises.  My muscles were definitely a little worn out already, so my intensity wasn’t as FULL ON as it sometimes is, but the fact that I went pleases me more than anything else.  My remaining training days are ticking away, so I have to make the most of um.

Day 44: HIIT/Abs + Snowboarding

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I *did* workout yesterday, just didn’t have time to blog it, as I spent the day at Copper Mountain.

Workout went well, I bumped up to 8 full sets of 4 sprints each, so I’m currently sprinting four diagonal lengths of the gym, which takes about 30 seconds, then resting for a minute.  Next week I’ll start changing my rest periods from a minute of walking to a minute of jogging.  It’s hard, but I shit you not just doing these twice a week for 20 minutes has DEFINITELY increased my cardiovascular health.  It works.

Abs also went pretty well, not great, but well.

I then continued to wear myself out by heading up to Copper Mountain for a beautiful day of snowboarding, 11″ of fresh powder and hardly any crowds.  I’m pretty good at Green Level runs now, but pure shit on Intermediates and ANYTHING with bumps.  Keep on keepin’ on.

Day 43: PUSH

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Felt great about this morning’s workout.  Had a lot of emotional energy when I woke up that I focused on translating to physical energy via the workout routine.

Food wise, I’m hungry pretty much all the time now, which is a good sign my metabolism has gone up.

Day 41: Cardio Strength Training

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Today marks the halfway point of my 12 week transformation with the completion of this morning’s cardio strength training routine.  Felt good this morning, pushed myself hard, sweated a lot, and definitely got my blood moving.
Very excited to have tomorrow off and get my morning Moe’s Egg & Cheese & Sausage bagel and coffee.

I intend to increase the intensity of everything in the final 6 weeks.  Live strong.

Day 40: HIIT/Abs

Friday, March 20th, 2009

It was hard getting up this morning, felt tired and sluggish and my sprints felt much the same.  Concentrated on really pushing myself the last 2 sets though, and was pleased with the performance.  Next week I’ll be doing full 4 length sprints for all 8 sets, and then I’ll start jogging during rest periods instead of walking.  It’s a slow journey, but progress is being made.

Abs went ok, they’re definitely a little tender right now…
