Day 90: Cardio Weights

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Never wrote this up saturday, but I did indeed workout.  I was pretty worn out from a long week and surprise bday party the night before.

Day 83: Cardio Weights

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

OMG.  I did NOT want to get up this morning.  I was up WAY too late rocking with good dudes playing rockband.  The good news?  WE TORE IT UP, Foreplay/Long Time has NOTHING was destroyed by our mad skillz.  The bad news?  I didn’t get to bed until 3am….so getting up at 9 was a bit hard.  Slept in till 9:30 and decided I’d just take a nap this afternoon.  Trudged over to the gym and dove right in, 1st cardio weight circuit was weak sauce, but the next two were fantastic.  Sweat dripping down my brow, grunts of power exherting from my lungs, burning muscles, good times were had, and the hot tub afterwards was MOST pleasurable.

Day 76: Cardio Weights

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Forgot to post on saturday, but i most certainly worked out….I mostly remember how good it felt to sit in the hot tub afterwards..

Day 69: Cardio Weights

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

If yesterday was a workout of highs, today was a workout of loooooooooows.  A) was totally unmotivated when I woke up, “itssssss saturrrrday” is what I kept whining to myself inside.

B) When I did get to the gym, I had zero energy.  It was like working out after having already worked out.  I have no idea why, but I was failing on my cardio level weights like they were my normal level.

But, I just ran with it.  Tried to keep my mind focus while letting my body be what it was.  Don’t think I broke any records for intensity, but my muscles were definitely groaning in each exercise and as always, and most important, I did it.

Week 10 OUT.

Day 62: Cardio Weights

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

So ends week 9.  3 measely weeks to go!

This morning was a good workout, I particularly got into bent-over rows in a way I don’t think I ever had before.  I pretty much nailed all my sets and reps, though I must admit my body was feeling full on tired after such a good overall week of training.  I was having a tough time tapping into my explosive energy.

I ate dinner out for the first time in ages last night with a visiting friend, had myself some chicken quesidillas.  Gotta say I was pretty shocked at much I something so off diet affect my system.  My sinuses got congested (sour cream?  cheese?) and I pretty much instantly fell asleep when I got home.

Fascinating to me.  Made me appreciate my clean eating of the last 9 weeks even more.

Day 55: Cardio Weights

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

I didn’t really feel like working out when I woke up this morning.  It wasn’t even that I was tired or anything, I just didn’t feel like I particularly wanted to go move weights up and down.  But, hit the gym by 9:30, did a quick warmup, and jumped right in to circuit 1/3.

Circuit 1 wasn’t all that fantastic, midway through completing the bicep set, I realized I had completely disappeared in the previous execises.  I was utterly and totally unpresent, and completely checked out.  I felt kinda dumb, and then kind of guilty for wasting my time.

So in sets 2 and 3 I really tried to focus in, and I fucking rocked them.  I was breathing hard and pushing hard.  It felt good.

Thus ends week 8.

Day 48: Cardio Weights

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Okay, so after yesterday’s very full day of snowboarding, I was totally exhausted.  yesterday ended up being my off day for my diet, the temptation of beer after a day on the mountain was just to great.  So I’m swapping friday for sunday, and will be on diet tomorrow and will also do my missed HIIT/Abs session then.

Cardio Weights were great this morning, it was a challenge but I showed up quite nicely.  While I am tired and do feel a bit bodyrocked, I’m stoked that I haven’t had to slow down at all this week, still been training, snowboarded twice, working, etc..etc…and the ability to do that IS fitness for me.

5 weeks left after tomorrow!  Where is  this year going?

Day 41: Cardio Strength Training

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Today marks the halfway point of my 12 week transformation with the completion of this morning’s cardio strength training routine.  Felt good this morning, pushed myself hard, sweated a lot, and definitely got my blood moving.
Very excited to have tomorrow off and get my morning Moe’s Egg & Cheese & Sausage bagel and coffee.

I intend to increase the intensity of everything in the final 6 weeks.  Live strong.

Day 34: Cardio Weight Circuit

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

Okay, so complete transparency here: I stayed up WAY too late playing ROCKBAND with the boys last night.  I’ll just say that its a BLAST, our band is getting tight, and I’ve definitely graduated to HARD on the bass.  Awesome.

I also thought I had a full day of work ahead of me today, so I still had to get up fairly early (at least for a saturday); so I was up at 9:30 and at the gym by 10, and was VERY tired.

However, I must say thatI PWNED this morning’s workout.  That was definitely the best cardio weight day I’ve had yet: again, the continual refinement of how much weight I do for each exercise is paying off.

Most exciting to me was that by the 2nd to last exercise of my 3rd and final circuit, I actually felt a cramp forming in my abdomen, which I’ve totally never gotten from weights before.  A pretty excellent sign to me that the cardio portion of my training was full blown today.  So A+ day so far, and a great sweat in the sauna afterwards.

I am feeling a bit more congested than normal today, so I’m going to try and be EXTRA careful that I’m not getting sick.

Day 27

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

it was a hard one today, had to work late last night and will be working again all day/evening today, so despite it being Saturday the only time I could squeeze in my workout was in the wee hours of the morning.

Made the shocking discovery that the gym doesn’t open until 6:30am on Saturdays, so I had some time to kill when I arrived there at 6.

‘Twas cardio circuit training today, and it was killer fun. I did three full circuits, 2 minute rests in between each. They go quite fast, so it was the perfect workout for my time crunched morning.

So ends week 4 of training. I can tell you one thing, I can’t WAIT to have my egg bagel and coffee at Moe’s tomorrow morning.
